Up Close

When we first picked this up we thought there’d been a printing error or something, as this is quite clearly a box for a 240mm rad based AIO.  As it turns out, we were wrong, there is indeed a 120mm rad based AIO lurking inside this absolutely palatial box.

Well we think it’s in there somewhere, it must be, we can see the tubing.  In all honesty, this thing is so well packaged that it took us a good five minutes to work out how to get it out.  And see that box on the right hand side, that’s full of accessories that is.  How cool is that.  Let’s be even more honest, to date, this is the most nicely presented and well packaged AIO we have ever seen.

See what we mean?  You don’t get an accessory box like this with just any old AIO.  Along with fittings for Intel and AMD, there’s a fan splitter, a pair of rubber gaskets, a set of instructions, and a rather lovely screws and fitting tray, with all the fitting laid out nicely in their own little slots.

No, we’ve never seen a pump/cold plate assembly quite like this before either, but we have to say we like it, we like it a lot.  The assembly is actually a dual chamber design, with CoolerMaster saying that the upper chamber is for cold water inflow, and the lower chamber for the outflow of the warm water, the theory being that the warm water is confined to the lower chamber, which will, in theory at least lengthen the life expectancy of the pump by quite some margin.

We don’t think we’ve ever seen a copper cold plate that looks quite as sexy as this.  Just look at lads, and try not to get a turgid.  There are though things going on beneath that sexy surface as CoolerMaster claim their water block technology offers a 40% performance boost.  40% over what though they don’t say.

Even the fins are patented “square fins” which will, it is claimed offer superior air flow through the radiator.  All we know is the radiator itself is even sexier than the water block.

That FEP tubing might not look flexible, but we can assure you it is, and the 90 rotating elbows on the side of the pump housing enable everything to point in the right direction without kinking.  With a radiator thickness of 38mm and an overall thickness of 88mm the Masterliquid Pro120 is no Kate Moss.

We didn’t think CoolerMaster would mind us skipping an oblique view of their case in order to bring you a picture of the illuminated top of the pump housing.  The inference is that there is coolant behind this window, but to be honest, we’re pretty sure that it’s consigned to the channels within the housing.
