Conclusion

So what do we make of the Kolink Phalanx?  Well let’s look back at the introduction shall we.

“It has a steel frame, with a full size tempered glass window, it has a brushed aluminium front with plenty of I/O options. It can take Motherboards up to E-ATX, has plenty of water cooling options and has 4x120mm Digitally addressable RGB fans included, with the option to install more all of which can be controlled by the integrated hub and bundled remote control.  All that for a hundred and…Hang on, this thing costs just £79!  Surely that can’t be right..”

So having spent time delving deep and reviewing the case at length, are there any caveats to this?  Well yes, there are a few as it happens.  Take a look back at the full review and you’ll see that savings have been made here and there.  Kolink have clearly had to save money in some areas to bring the case to market at this price point.  In no particular order then, the rear fan extract will only accept a 120mm fan, and even then it’s a bit cramped, the Brushed Aluminium front panel is a veneer as opposed to a full thickness billet of Aluminium, the DRGB controller on the rear of mobo area isn’t glued on perfectly straight, the cable management as it comes from the factory is rather unruly, the cable management holes aren’t rubber grommeted, and there isn’t a blank plate for the 360mm rad in the false floor.  Read the full review and you’l remember me asking this simple question.  “Does this cosmically speaking matter”?  To us, No, not one jot, but you’ll have to make you’re own decisions.  To be perfectly honest We think we have a case that offers so much, at such a reasonable price that it’s going to fly off the shelves. 

I’ve always said that a short conclusion is a good conclusion, and this is no different.  When it comes to the gongs, the Phalanx certainly gets the coveted VFM award, and to be honest if we had a “Hall of fame” for best ever VFM cases, we’d put the Phalanx in it.
