X870E Tomahawk Overview

The MAG marking on the box background is so subtle that it almost looks like a watermark. The MSI MAG Series, just visible above the A-W letters of Tomahawk, even more so. We mentioned in our other MSI reviews that we’re curious as to why their battery warning is so large. Initially we expected it to be a safety directive. As only MSI do it though, it’s a problem strangely unique to them.

If you’ve seen one MSI Tomahawk motherboard you’ve largely seen them all. Mainly black with neon green accents, it’s a good option if you hate glitzy PCBs.

We will be covering all the key elements of the MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk on the next page. We do like showing it off in broader strokes though, just so you can get a feel for how it looks and where everything fits together. It’s good practise, and it never hurts to see the woods before you get up close with the trees.

Beneath the five finned heatsink stacks we find the same 14+2+1 80A SPS that we saw on the non E version of the Tomahawk. Plenty of power to run any setup, whilst still leaving lots of room above for more powerful setups on MPG and MEG variants.
