MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk Review
Conclusion
Conclusion
We do enjoy it when a product is released that can be summarised succinctly.
Such has been the recent success of the MSI MAG Tomahawk releases that today’s model, the X870E Tomahawk, being just as good is no shock at all. Obviously you’re not likely to win any aesthetic awards with it. The plain black base colour certainly blends into most systems, and whilst the lurid green grabs your attention in photographs, within a case you barely notice it. There is no onboard RGB or screens to grab your eye either. All of the cost has gone into the performance side of things. That isn’t to say it’s ugly. Merely that looking like a bauble isn’t it’s job.
As people who very much love the simplicity of a product which is unashamedly about performance, you can tell why we love the MSI Tomahawk lineup so much. None of the cost of entry is spent on needless glitz. Every ounce of the very low price point is bringing you performance. When money is tight, which it is for most of us, getting a system that can go toe-to-toe with something like the Godlike without requiring you to sell a kidney is a win in our books.
We especially love the connectivity provided by the X870E Tomahawk. If you’ve got a lot of peripherals, maybe you’re a gamer who transcends genres, then you’ll know how often affordable motherboards can have a dearth of USB ports. The Tomahawk gives us loads of connection options, including two 40G USB ports. It’s a beast.
Coming in well below £350, the MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk will put the frighteners on all its competitors. It’s cheap, but lacking for nothing. More than enough to win it our OC3D Gamers Choice Award.
