MSI MEG X870E Godlike Review
Introduction and Technical Specifications
Introduction
The MSI MEG X870E Godlike is the latest in MSIs range of flagship motherboards boasting that title. If you’re a regular visitor to these hallowed halls you might recall that we’ve covered all of them from the Z370 through to today’s model. Demonstrating how MSI is refining the formula, you just have to look at the Z490 version. You can see that the screen is in the same place. We might have come a long way in the intervening years, but basically today’s review is an evolution of that foundation.
Whereas those early editions were Intel motherboards, the Godlike today is based around the AMD platform. One thing AMD do well is entice you with cutting edge technologies, and the X870E Godlike is no exception. By the way, it’s impossible to read ‘MSI MEG X870E Godlike’ without hearing it in the Unreal Tournament announcers voice. Our love for that title remains undiminished. It’s probably why we hate Fortnite so much. IYKYK.
MSIs commitment to ensuring the Godlike name doesn’t get watered down works well with AMDs quest for high-end chipset features. It makes our review today a nice and easy one to introduce. Even if you haven’t looked to the top of this review and seen the price, the knowledge that this is the premium AMD chipset allied to the premium MSI MEG motherboard should clue you in as to what to expect. So let’s look at the features, what it’s like in the flesh, and then see how it performs in our benchmarks.
