MSI MEG X870E Godlike Review
Accessories and Overview
Accessories
One area where it’s important to remember the price of things is in the accessories you get with your purchase. It’s easy to assume a grand plus makes the X870E Godlike overpriced. Naturally there aren’t prices for many of these, being proprietary technologies. However, a Gen 4 M.2 add-in card of this quality is nearly £100. Assuming other accessories here end up around £100 all in, then the motherboard itself is just under a grand. The Z590 Godlike launched at £999 which actually makes this X870E Godlike an inflation-busting MSRP. Isn’t the world strange.
Certainly in the giant box the accessories are beautifully arranged. It’s almost arty. We’re slightly upset at having to stick our pudgy fingers in and free them. It seems unnatural.
Speaking of the Gen5 M.2 Xpander-Z, the MSI offering is of a very high standard. Build quality is exceptional, with plenty of Quality of Life improvements over many we’ve seen. Nicely done.
Overview
With no power running through it the MSI MEG X870E Godlike does a very good black mirror impression. So much of it lights up, and so much of it is shiny, that it doesn’t look that special when powered off. Although, obviously, an OLED Monitor doesn’t exactly set the world alight without an image on it, so the Godlike isn’t unique.
If you want to make sure that you have all those solder joints carefully protected as well as spread any heat generated as widely as possible, the Godlike backplate has you covered.
