NZXT Z890 N9 and N7 Review

N9 Z890 Overview

It’s wild how a simple thing like sticking to a particular colour for your boxes makes a product stand out more. Maybe you’ve only got four or five in a cupboard. We’ve got hundreds. The purple makes NZXT boxes simple to spot.

N9 Z890 Box

One thing we absolutely adored about the AMD N9 from NZXT was the design of the bottom half. Thankfully the Intel one continues that theme. It’s gorgeous. For reasons we can’t fully explain we love the translucent panel on the right too. It serves no particular purpose, and yet just hits the spot.

N9 Z890 Overview

Between the IO section runs a line which goes beneath the NZXT logo and onto the panel between the translucent one on the right and the main M.2 cover on the left. This is where the RGB lighting goes. So many motherboards are dominated by a giant RGB logo on the IO cover. We love the simplicity of the NZXT solution. Everything just looks smooth and clean. Minimalism for the win.

Speaking of minimalism, why have a M.2 cover built of many pieces when one will do? Just look at it. The uniformity. It’s so pretty.

Normally M.2 drives are mounted horizontally. NZXT have gone for a vertical design. We don’t know about you, but we like it. Different can be good.

A gigantic slab of metal and some very thick and capable thermal pads ensure your M.2 drives will never be lacking for cooling.

Look at that fin density. The VRM heatsink is a beast. It has to be with 20+2+1 110A SPS beating underneath it. More than enough for even the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K. It’s so pretty though. NZXT have really decided to take a different path to the rest of the market, and we respect that.
