AMD RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT Unboxing

AMD Radeon RX 9070/ RX 9070 XT series Unboxing

Today is a big day for AMD and the entire GPU market. AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT have been revealed, adding some much-needed competition into the GPU space. Today, we are allowed to show off AMD’s newest GPUs. Sadly, we cannot share any performance numbers of benchmark scores, but we can unbox some RX 9070/9070 XT graphics cards.

Today we have XFX’s RX 9070 Quick Silver and RX 9070 XT Mercury White. From Sapphire, we have the company’s Radeon RX 9070 XT Nitro+. Gamers can expect full reviews for these GPUs before they are released.

Note that AMD will not be releasing a reference/MBA (Made by AMD) RX 9070 series GPUs. These GPUs will only be available through AMD’s AIB partners.

RX 9070 series Specifications

Below are the specifications of AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 series. Note that all of the GPUs we are unboxing today are listed as “OC” or “OC Edition” models, which means they will feature higher GPU clock speeds than listed below.

With RDNA 4, AMD has made several advancements allowing them to get more performance from each Compute Units (CUs). This allows AMD’s new RDNA 4 GPUs to punch above their weight-class, especially compared to older RDNA 2 or RDNA 3 GPUs.

With the RX 9070 series, AMD aims to deliver a solid 4K gaming experience with 1440p GPU pricing.

Radeon RX 9070 XT Performance Gains

With their Radeon RX 9070 XT, AMD claims up to a 51% performance advantage over their RX 6900 XT graphics card. They also claim up to a 26% performance advantage over Nvidia’s RTX 3090. Both of these GPUs cost $999 or more at launch. AMD’s RX 9070 series GPUs are a lot cheaper than that. It’s great to see this level of performance becoming available at lower prices.

Radeon RX 9070 Performance Gains

For the RX 9070, AMD claims 38% performance gains over their RX 6800 XT and 26% performance gains over Nvidia’s RTX 3080. Big performance gains for GPUs of this price bracket.
