Gigabyte Aorus RTX 4080 Super and Nvidia DLSS

Wrap Up

Something a little different today. We always try to show you a games look when we do our performance guide. But after that we tend to trust that you know how they look, and with the internet if you don’t it’s never been easier to find out.

However, today being so focused upon the Nvidia DLSS technology, particularly when paired with the Aorus Master RTX 4080 Super, we wanted to show you how ‘bad’ things look. We say bad in inverted commas because clearly DLSS is witchcraft. How it manages to boost our frame rates so significantly, yet without obviously degrading the image quality, is beyond us. Yes we’ve read the Nvidia explanatory documents and sat through their webinars. But we’re not scientists. We’re users. We like the end result. And here, the results are bananas.

Certainly you can tell how much more mature the Nvidia solution is than their rivals. The alternative is not at all refined. But here, in RTX format, DLSS 3 and even Frame Gen give you double the frame rate of a vanilla mode, yet without you being able to see the joins. Scroll back up and look at Aloy. It’s crazy how realistic games have become, and well over 100 FPS even at 4K.
