MSI MAG 321URX QD-OLED Review

Introduction

The MSI MPG 321URX QD-OLED is the latest in a long line of attractive MSI Monitor offerings. It can’t have escaped your notice that OLED is the weapon of choice in high-end visual displays. All the flagship televisions and monitors used the organic light emitting diodes. To demonstrate the prevalence of them in current thinking, this is the third MSI OLED monitor we’ve reviewed. We’ve looked at their MEG 342C, and the smaller 271QRX. Both have the Quantum Dot OLED panel that is in our review MPG 321URX today.

Clearly OLED panels are still a premium choice. What we would say is that if you are the kind of person who spent fortune on a gaming system, to then scrimp on your display feels like madness. You wouldn’t push your Playstation 5 through a portable CRT tv would you. Would you?

Now with all OLED panels being at the pricier end of the scale, you want it to be as futureproof as possible. This is where we feel the MSI MPG 321URX scores highly. Not only do you get a 32 inch screen that can support 4K resolutions, but it also has a 240Hz peak refresh rate. Even if you’re only a casual follower of the hardware world you’ll be aware that 4K@240Hz requires insane amounts of grunt to achieve. We’re not sure if even a RTX 4090 can hit those kind of numbers in a graphically taxing title. Okay you could hit that in Overwatch, but who’d give Blizzard any money these days? Enough pre-amble though, let’s take a look at it in the flesh, then cycle some OSD options, before finally wrapping up our thoughts.
