Demonstrating how strong the MSI Gaming brand has become, we could have guessed what the R9 290 looked like before we saw it. The matte box with the red flashes and Dragon logo looks great, and the Twin Frozr is one of our favourite coolers.

The backplate is well designed with a few cut-outs for solder spots and the MSI logo proudly in place, and facing the right direction.

There is a high fin density to keep the Hawaii GPU cool.

Power is provided by the 8+6 combination that’s common to high-end graphics cards, and the outputs are a DisplayPort, an HDMI and two DVIs.
