Smart Access Memory on Zen 2 CPUs – The Power of Resizable Bar!

Forza Horizon 4 is practically the poster child of AMD’s Smart Access Memory technology. The game is one of the best looking titles on Xbox and Playground Games is one of the most talented studios that the Xbox brand has to offer. If there is a studio that can push the limits of hardware, it’s Playground games, and Smart Access Memory/Resizable BAR support can make Forza Horizon’s framerates soar. 
 
While 1st percentile framerates stay mostly constant at 1080p (likely due to CPU performance limits), average and 95th percentile framerates see notable increases. At 1440p, Smart Access Memory enables performance levels that are better than our 1080p results with Smart Access Memory disabled, showcasing how much the technology can speed up the game’s performance. It’s results like these that make Resizable BAR a must-enable feature for all Radeon RX 6000 series users. 

At 4K, Smart Access Memory is enough to keep Forza Horizon 4 at 120 FPS performance levels under most circumstances, which is a big deal for users of today’s HDMI 2.1 compatible 4K TVs and monitors.
