We Made A White Sapphire RX 7900 XTX Nitro+

Introduction

Sapphire have been around for longer than we have. Whilst some other brands might grab all the headlines from people who don’t pay close attention to the market, Sapphire have built a reputation for high quality, well built, well designed and, perhaps most importantly, speedy graphics cards. When we looked at their latest model, the RX 7900 XTX Nitro+, we were blown away by how fast and cool it was, whilst also demonstrating their attention to detail with the excellent full-width light bar, available from OCUK now £100 Cheaper.

The one thing they don’t do is produce a white version of their cards. We knew that they might feel, like many people do, that white is so unique that there won’t be many sales involved, or at least not enough to justify the retooling. Therefore, with a few cans of Ford Oxford White – easily our favourite white before you get into the levels of whiteness usually reserved for American actor’s teeth – and a few weekends we wanted to demonstrate both a proof of concept and give you the opportunity to see what is possible.

Please note in advance that this isn’t going to be a full, WikiHow, step-by-step guide to painting your GPU. It can be summarised as “take apart, spray what you can see, put back together”, so instead it’s here as inspiration for all you DIY enthusiasts as well as perhaps showing Sapphire what they could do if they wanted. Whilst we’re using white, because of course we are, you could use any colour you like if you’ve grown weary of gaming rigs being a sea of black. Let’s get some colour back into the world.

Obviously we’ll use the next couple of pages to give you a breakdown in how it looks and then show off a couple of areas you need to be aware of if you fancy replicating our work. But we know that people are impatient and want to see it now, so here is how it matches up to the rest of our white rig. Now read on for some closeups and tips.
