be quiet! Light Mount and Dark Mount Keyboard Review

be quiet! Dark Mount Up Close
If you’re sat there thinking, “well that’s all good, but what about something more jaw-dropping”, then can we introduce you to the Dark Mount. It’s frankly ludicrous what this has going on. A glimpse of the picture on the front of the box should give you a clue.
It amuses us that a keyboard which will end up looking as big and complicated as this one does, can also be so compact and simple when you first take it out of the box. Although this is cool if you’re taking it somewhere and want to keep it simple or are limited for space.
Feet height is normally one or two stages. As we saw earlier on in this review. Unlike the twin height feet on the Light, the Dark goes with magnetic stacking feet. At least when you bump the keyboard it’s less likely to collapse the feet and leave one corner too low. We’ve all done it. Push the keyboard back to fit your lunch on the desk and the feet remain still whilst the keyboard moves. A problem that no longer exists with the be quiet! solution.
The number pad is a bit special. And when we say a bit we mean loads. It’s detachable, so you can save desk space. It attaches firmly, so when in place you’d never know it wasn’t meant to be there. And of course it comes with eight Stream Deck-esque switches. Be patient. We’ll show it off properly in a minute.
This is how the number pad attaches to the Dark Mount. A nice chunky connection to ensure it’s as stable as possible.
Every connector is Type-C. It’s such a perfect connector we’re delighted it exists. All the “no it goes in the third way around” jokes are consigned to history.
Either Way is Fine
You also get a wrist rest with this one too. It’s split into two so whichever side you care to install the number pad, your wrist is protected. What’s that? Yes, whichever side. Lefties rejoice.
