Corsair at Computex 2018

Cases – 1000D & Crystal 280X  

When it came to PC cases, Corsair wanted us to take another look at their Obsidian 1000D, their behemoth of a case that can support up to two full systems. 

At Computex Corsair is marketing this case under the tagline “Stream it Better”, aiming the chassis at those who require two separate systems for game streaming. The main EATX/ATX system can be used for streaming and video editing while the compact ITX system can be used exclusively for gaming, preventing one workload from affecting the other.  

 

In Corsair’s setup, they have included two fully water cooled systems, offering low operating temperatures and minimal noise under load. You certainly couldn’t hear the PC running at the Corsair suite, though there were far too many people there to consider that space quiet. 

  
  

Moving on we also got a look at Corsair’s new Crystal series 280X case, both in its white and black forms. We plan to release a full review of this case in the near future, so expect to see our full overview of the chassis soon enough. 

In their showpiece system, Corsair is showing off their RGB technology to its fullest, with RGB fans, LED strips and RGB memory modules, all of which look great behind the 280X’s tempered glass side, front and top panels.  

  

Taking a closer look at the case, we can see that Corsair has been able to make an extremely clean build within the 280X, though we can see some easy modding potential here. If you cut out an acrylic panel of the correct sie users could easily make for themselves a smooth/flat floor, which would clean up the base of the case somewhat, though this is only an option for those that do not want to use fans on the floor of the enclosure.
