Best PC Gaming Handheld

Best PC Gaming Handheld – ASUS’ ROG Ally X

There were a lot of PC gaming handhelds at Computex 2024, but it was easy to pick our favourite. It’s the ROG Ally X. We were hands on the with handheld, and we could immediately feel its improvements. All of ASUS’ minor changes have added up to give us a handheld that is much better than the original Ally. Add on more (and faster) LPDDR5 memory, M.2 2280 SSD support, and its 80 Wh battery, and we have one of the best handheld gaming PCs on the market.

Yes, it uses the same AMD SOC as before, but ASUS have clearly worked hard to improve every other aspect of their ROG Ally. Even its software is getting better thanks to ASUS’ new version of Armoury Crate. This is, hands down, the best Windows-powered gaming handheld of Computex 2024.

Honourable Mention – MSI’s Claw 8 AI+

Another handheld that we though was worth mentioning is the MSI Claw 8 AI+. That said, the reason behind this mention is primarily because of the Intel Lunar Lake CPU that’s inside of it. Lunar Lake promises users a 50% GPU performance upgrade with its Xe2 graphics cores. That should be enough performance to make this handheld the most performant Windows Gaming handheld on the market.

The MSI Claw 8 AI+ has a lot of promise, but we couldn’t feel it in our hands or properly see it in action. It was locked behind a screen and it won’t be ready to launch until Q4.
