NZXT PSU Buyers Guide – Gold and Platinum Models

Wrap Up

NZXT PSU Roundup

Wrap Up

Which of the NZXT PSU offerings you choose is very much dependent upon your use case. It’s worth bearing in mind that we’ve tested, for example, the Core i9-14900K and Ryzen 9 9950X with a RTX 4090 and not needed more than 700W.

Strictly speaking therefore any of the models we’ve looked at today will be good. However, you want efficiency, and cool temperatures. Efficiency helps your power bills and component longevity. Cool temperatures likewise. Additionally the harder you push a power supply the more ripple to tend to get, and voltage ripple means instability. You owe it to yourself to buy the best possible power supply you can afford. Not just in terms of Watt potential, but quality too. The reason the C1500 is more efficient than the C1200 isn’t the extra 300W it can achieve, but the quality of the components.

However, such is the quality of all four of the NZXT models we have here, whichever you choose you’ll be pleased with. If you just plan to go for a mid-range gaming system, Core i5-14600 and RTX 4070Ti for example, then the C1000 will fulfil all your needs. We especially like the ability to toggle the Zero Fan feature. It’s not something everyone will do, nor need to do, but we like having physical control over it.

Which One?

If you ask for our advice, we think the C850 is perfect for a value gaming rig, or perhaps even as a PSU upgrade in an older system. It’s important to have a lot of headroom in your PSU. AMD 7800 or Nvidia 4060/3070 or below will be perfect. The C1200 is 100% worth biting the bullet over it’s C1000 if you’re in the market for a heavy gaming rig. The C1200 will run anything you throw at it, and although the price is currently a step above the C1000, on normal pricing it’s barely a fiver more. The Platinum C1500 is clearly a whole different beast. However, if you want a power supply that leaves you utterly free from worry, it’s the one for the well-heeled amongst you.

C850 Gold – £89.99

C1000 Gold – (currently on offer) £99.98

C1200 Gold – £134.99

C1500 Platinum – £299.99
