Battlefield 6 Beta PC Performance Tested

Conclusion

Battlefield 6 looks and runs great on PC

Let’s face it, many new PC releases run poorly. You only need to mention Unreal Engine 5 online to get an audible groan from many PC gamers. When looking at this game’s performance on PC, the word that I would use to describe Battlefield 6 is refreshing. This is a PC game that doesn’t need upscaling to run well on PC. Yes, upscaling can push framerates to higher levels, but it isn’t a requirement for 60+ FPS gameplay.

Even with older graphics cards like Nvidia’s RTX 2070 SUPER, Battlefield 6’s online beta ran with an average framerate of over 60 FPS at 1080p Ultra settings. How many modern games do that? Battlefield 6 may not be the most visually stunning game out there, but it looks good and is performant. That’s more than can be said for many new releases.

Battlefield 6 isn’t a game that you’ll need a £1000+ graphics card to play at high resolutions. With FSR, even AMD’s RX 9060 XT can deliver a strong 4K experience. Without upscaling, this GPU does a smashing job at 1440p. At 4K, AMD’s RX 9070 XT does a smashing job at Ultra settings without upscaling, but if you want higher (100 FPS+) framerates, upscaling is your friend.

During our time playing Battlefield 6, the game ran smoothly, at least for the most part. There were some momentary stutters here and there, but those became less common as we played. Battlefield Studios may need to refine its shader compilation steps. Even so, this beta runs surprisingly well. Many finalised games release with less polish.

Solid Performance, Strong Gameplay

Gameplay-wise, Battlefield 6 feels a lot like older games in the series. If you’ve wanted the series to return to a Battlefield 3/4 style setting, it looks like your wish has been granted. We have proper classes, lots of destructability, and no needless gimmicks. This is Battlefield as it should be.

Honestly, this beta has me excited about the Battlefield franchise again. The game looks great, runs well, and offers a full campaign for those who want one. Maybe they will make Bad Company 3 next?
