Battlefield 1 PC Performance Review

DirectX 12 VS DirectX 11 Performance

Looking at DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 performance in Battlefield 1 it is obvious that each implementation is only intended to be used with specific GPUs. With Nvidia Pascal and older Maxwell Based GPUs battlefield 1 always performs best in DirectX 11 and with AMD’s Polaris and GCN-based GPUs DirectX 12 offers superior framerates.

In short Nvidia users should avoid using DirectX 12, as it does not offer any additional performance. AMD users, on the other hand, should always use DirectX 12 if they own a compatible GPU, as all the AMD GPUs that we have tested offer higher levels of performance.

DirectX 12 may offer better performance than DirectX 11 in multi-GPU setups, but sadly at this time we do not have two matching GPUs to test SLI and Crossfire performance.
