Dragon Ball FighterZ PC Performance Review

Dragon Ball FighterZ PC Performance Review

Introduction

Let’s start off with a confession; I am a Dragon Ball fan. I have watched all of Z, both Original and Kai and I am up-to-date with the ongoing Super anime, and I have even gone as far as to… tolerating most of GT.

When Dragon Ball FighterZ was first revealed by Bandai Namco and Arc System Works; my heart started beating faster. Never before had a Dragon Ball game looked so good while also holding so faithful to the source material in its visuals, be it the Anime or Manga versions.

To live up to the hype surrounding it, Dragon Ball FighterZ has its work cut out for it, especially within the PC market. The game itself is built on top of Unreal Engine 4, utilising the DirectX 11 API to deliver heavily stylised cell shaded graphics. These graphics are designed to emulate 2D sprites, offering spectacular screenshots while also providing models that arguably look better than some of the source material.

The question of today is how well Dragon ball FighterZ runs on PC. What are the limitations of the title, what kind of hardware do PC gamers require to deliver smooth gameplay, do we need a 3DMARK score of over 9,000 to play? Let’s find out!

Drivers

AMD and Nvidia have both decided to ignore this title, with neither company releasing a day-0 driver for Dragon Ball FigherZ. This lack of game-optimised drivers means that we will be testing this game using each company’s most recent drivers, which is Radeon Software Adrenalin 18.1.1 for Radeon and Geforce 390.65 for Nvidia.
