Fallout 4 High Resolution Texture Pack Review

Fallout 4's High Resolution texture pack has been released

Conclusion

The biggest questions that we have been asked about this new texture pack is how much of an impact is has on the game’s visual quality and how much of an impact it has on game performance.

To answer both of these questions quickly, Fallout 4’s high-resolution texture pack has a minimal impact on the game, with the differences in texture quality being almost unnoticeable outside of a side-by-side comparison and an almost non-existent performance impact if users have enough VRAM.

The visual impact of this texture pack is so small that I would advise users to search elsewhere if they are looking for higher resolution textures, as modders have already created high-resolution texture packs which have a larger impact on the game’s visuals and much smaller downloads. To say the least, this Texture pack takes up a lot more space than it is worth and most PC gamers will not want to waste this much storage for such a small gain in graphical fidelity.

If you are not concerned about the storage requirements for this texture pack and have enough VRAM to use it there is no reason not to, as it does provide users with an increase in graphical fidelity, though be aware that the increase in graphical quality may not be as high as you expect.

This texture pack may not be the revolution that many gamers expected, but it is certainly an improvement that is worth considering if you have the hardware to run it. Those of you with strict download limits, low-resolution screens or small amounts of HDD or SSD storage may want to skip this update/Free DLC, as the 58GB download size of this texture pack is massive and will take up a significant amount of your PC’s internal storage.
Most PC gamers will be arguing about this texture pack for some time to come, debating whether the improved texture quality is worth the massive download size and whether or not this mod really needs to exist in a world where modders have already created a large number of competing high-resolution texture packs for the title.
