Halo: Campaign Evolved PC Performance Review

AMD FSR

AMD FSR

Like DLSS, FSR delivers strong performance gains in Halo: Campaign Evolved. With RDNA 3 and RDNA 4 GPUs, the game uses AMD FSR 4 upscaling. For other GPUs, the game uses FSR 3. With our Radeon RX 9070 XT, FSR can easily be used to make this game playable at 4K with 60+ FPS framerates. Overall, FSR 4 delivers stronger visual results than Unreal Engine 5’s TSR upscaler. That said, TSR delivers better results than FSR 3, but it cannot be used with FSR 3 Frame Generation. Overall, FSR 3 does not have the best frame pacing, limiting its usefulness. AMD really needs to update this aspect of FSR Frame Generation.

Note that Halo Campaign Evolved does not use AMD standard FSR naming scheme. There are no Quality, Balanced, or Performance modes. This game has resolution scaling percentages with Native (100%), Ultra (67%), High (59%), Medium (50%), and Low (33%) settings. We’ve opted to test Native, Ultra, High, and Medium. Using low mode (720p upscaled to 4K) seemed a little excessive for this game.
