Hitman 3 PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

Graphics Preset Scaling

For our Hitman 3 GPU tests, we did not utilise the game’s built-in benchmark. While the benchmark is highly repeatable and relatively accurate, we found that the start of the game’s Germany mission offered performance levels that were most representative of a worst-case scenario for today’s graphics cards.

To benchmark this scene, we walked Agent 47 to the forest and towards the power plant and start a short cutscene. This quick benchmark lasts 60 seconds and highlights a spread of framerates throughout most of the Hitman 3. 1st percentile framerates are lower than most areas of the full game, but average and 95th percentile framerates are relatively representative of substantial portions of Hitman 3.

To say the very least, the fact that we can get average framerates of almost 60 FPS at 4K with our Radeon RX 5700 at Medium settings is a clear sign that Hitman 3 is a well-optimised title on PC. Most RX 5700 GPU users will be using this graphics card for 1440p and high refresh rate 1080p gaming, making this graphics card an excellent choice for Hitman 3 players. That said, this GPU will not support Ray Tracing when it is added to Hitman 3 later this year.

(The exact settings for out  Low, Medium, High and Ultra presets below are detailed on page 4 of this analysis)

Below we can see that the move from Ultra to High delivers a modest 7.7% performance gain in our demanding scene, while the move from High to Medium provides a larger performance gain of around 11.5%. For many PC gamers, Medium settings with a higher “Level of Detail Quality” value are the best option for maximising performance and graphical fidelity, assuming that you are using Ultra textures.
