Just Cause 4 PC Performance Review

4K Performance – Benchmark Results

At 4K Just Cause 4 has an enormous toll on graphics hardware, so much so that Nvidia’s mighty RTX 2080 Ti is unable to achieve steady 60 FPS framerates, relegating high-end PC gamers to lower settings or lower performance targets, perhaps both.

Here we see the AMD RX Vega 56 (reference design) offer roughly equal performance to Nvidia’s GTX 1080 Founders Edition, with neither achieving 30 FPS minimum framerates. Both the GTX 1060 and RX 580 fail to stay above 30FPS framerates, showcasing how tough 4K gaming can be on PC.

With lower settings both the RX Vega 56 and GTX 1080 are capable of steady 30 FPS gameplay, making gaming on a gamepad with a 30FPS lock a lot of fun. 4K goes a long way towards reducing Just Cause 4’s often grainy image and greatly reduced aliasing and shimmer, making this setup one of my preferred way to play Just Cause 4, at least on the hardware I have available.
