Just Cause 4 PC Performance Review

1080p Performance – Benchmark Results

Across our test suite, we see a similar trend to our RX 580 vs GTX 1060 scaling tests, with Just Cause 4 preferring Radeon hardware to its Nvidia-made counterparts. This is a huge change from Just Cause 3, where Geforce hardware typically commanded a performance lead.

With these results in mind, we can see why Square Enix and Avalanche recommend AMD’s RX Vega 56 and Nvidia’s GTX 1070, as both are capable of staying above 60FPS at all times at 1080p maximum settings.

Looking at the lower end of our GPU stack we can see that both the GTX 960 and R9 380 require some settings reductions to achieve 30 FPS gameplay. This is something that we will look further into on page 10. Given this game’s horrible keyboard/mouse controls, 30 FPS isn’t a bad target to aim for, as our recommendation is to play this game with a gamepad, where 30FPS framerates are their most playable.
