Settings Scaling – How to get higher framerates

When moving through Yakuza 6’s graphical presets, we can see that our RX 6800 only sees its average framerate increase by 6.2% when moving from Ultra to High. This is not a huge increase in performance, and the move to Medium textures and 8x Texture filtering is noticeable.

Moving from High to Ultra does deliver a much larger performance increase, but this settings change comes with larger graphical downgrades and decreased Yakuza 5’s resolution scale to 83%. Moving from High to Medium doesn’t just lower the game’s texture, shadow and geometry detail; it also decreased the game’s rendering resolution. The same is true for low settings, which uses a 75% resolution scale.

When looking at Yakuza 6’s PC version, it is clear that resolution scale is the only real way to increase the game’s performance by any significant margin, as most other settings make large graphical cutbacks without offering large performance increases.

1080p settings scaling, do any of these settings eliminate stutter?

At 1080p on our RX 6800 graphics card, lowering Yakuza 6’s graphical presets does little to alter the game’s performance profile. No setting within the game does much to boost Yakuza 6’s CPU performance and does nothing to eliminate its stuttering. When Yakuza is CPU-limited, none of the game’s settings can alleviate this issue.
