Resident Evil 3 Remake PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

4K Performance

Like most modern games, Resident Evil 3 is difficult to run at 60FPS framerates at a 4K resolution. Even the RTX 2080 Ti cannot achieve a full 60FPS lock during the game’s most demanding scenes. That said, some areas of the game will hover in the 80-90 FPS framerate range, making 60+ FPS framerates the norm outside of the game’s most demanding scenes.

Even so, simply turning settings like Volumetric Lighting down will address the RTX 2080 Ti’s sub-60 FPS performance dips, and bring GPUs like the RX 5700 XT, RX 5700 and 8GB+ Nvidia graphics cards a lot closer to a 60 FPS target framerate.

Note that all of the 6GB graphics cards in this test fell down the ranking by a huge margin. 4K max settings in this game require 8GB of VRAM or more, and this caused the RTX 2060 and GTX 1660 Super to suffer. Turning down the game’s texture settings will result in a large performance boost.
