Resident Evil 3 Remake PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

Interlacing – Does it work?

In Resident Evil 2, Interlacing was a graphical option that we didn’t recommend. It offered gamers a notable performance boost, but it added strange artefacts to the game and a lot of additional aliasing. In Devil May Cry 5, another RE Engine game, Interlacing was also an option, but it had fewer graphical downsides and presented gamers with a presentation that was not as clear a native resolution rendering, but close enough to be worth the performance boost it provided, especially at higher resolutions.

With RE 3, Interlacing can provide gamers with a huge performance boost at the cost of a little clarity. This option will be very useful for gamers with 4K screens, especially if they are running graphics cards like AMD’s RX 5600 XT or Nvidia’s RTX 2060.

Performance data for Resident Evil 3’s Interlaing option is available on Page 10 of this analysis.
