Skull and Bones PC Performance Review

Upscaling – DLSS vs FSR 2 vs TAA

Upscaler Wars – DLSS, FSR 2, and TAA

Skull and Bones supports a tonne of upscaling technologies, but for some reason the developer has decided to skip both DLSS and FSR 3 Frame Generation with this game release. Right now, Skull and Bones supports DLSS Super Resolution, FSR 2, and TAA upscaling, with TAA upscaling being the game’s default option.

After testing all three options in-game, I have concluded that DLSS offers the best upscaling results, followed by FSR 2 and then Ubisoft’s own TAA upscaling solution. After benchmarking all three options, I also found that both FSR 2 and DLSS are much more performant than the game’s default TAA upscaling option. Honestly, I think this game would be better off if the game’s default TAA was removed from the game entirely, provided that native resolution DLSS and FSR upscaling modes were added. Yes, native resolution DLSS (DLAA) and FSR options are not included in Skull and Bones.
