Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War III PC performance review

AMD VS Nvidia – RX 480 VS GTX 1060 – Minimum to Maximum Settings

When comparing AMD’s RX 480 to Nvidia’s GTX 1060 (6GB) there is one clear winner. This game loves AMD hardware, allowing the RX 480 to easily dominate the GTX 1060 at the same graphical settings. The newly released RX 580, which is effectively an overclocked RX 480, would win this battle by an even larger margin.

Looking at these results we can see a few things, first that the AA settings in Dawn of War III are a huge performance hog and secondly that this game is very scalable to both high-end and low-end hardware.

Both our RX 480 and GTX 1060 were able to keep this game at a steady 100+ FPS at 1080p Minimum settings, which is ideal for those with high refresh rate monitors and are itching for every competitive advantage that they can find. Moving up to max settings (with no AA) we found that both the GTX 1060 and RX 480 Strix models were easily able to maintain framerates of over 60FPS, which is perfect for the majority of PC gamers who use 1080p 60FPS displays.
