Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 PC Performance Review

DLSS Upscaling

The latest version of DLSS, but no Frame Generation

At launch, Space Marine 2 supports DLSS on PC, but not DLSS Frame Generation. Thankfully, the game has launched with DLSS Super Resolution version 3.7. This is the latest version of Nvidia’s DLSS upscaler. While Frame Generation is not present, Space Marine 2 uses a better AI upscaler version than the “DLSS 2” that the game is advertised with. DLSS Frame Generation will arrive with a post-launch game update.

Note that enabling DLSS resulted in a near 2x performance boost at 4K. This is mostly because this game is VRAM-limited at 4K by our 12GB RTX 4070 Ti. Using DLSS made this game less limited by our GPU’s frame buffer, resulting in a larger-than-normal performance boost. At 4K, Space Marine 2 is playable at Ultra settings at 60+ FPS on an RTX 4070 Ti when DLSS is enabled.
