Corsair MP700 Pro Review

Introduction

We feel the need. The need for speed. Or, to put it another way, we can never have enough data throughput. No matter how fast our system works, it is never quick enough. We’re insatiable that way. Thankfully, if you’ve got the platform that supports it, the new Corsair MP700 Pro Gen 5 NVMe M.2 promises to sate your appetite. Naturally you need plenty of high end hardware to maximise the sort of performance the Corsair MP700 Pro can deliver. It would be a shame to waste the potential performance of a premium system with a lethargic drive.

Indeed the only two setups we’ve reviewed that get close to these kind of speeds are the Gigabyte Aorus G5 and the Sabrent RAID . Promising 12 GB/s read and close that when writing, the newest Corsair M.2 certainly threatens to be at the top of our graphs.

As you can see from the image at the top of this review though, and we’ll show you on the next page, the MP700 is going to take up some room in your system. We will find out later if the giant heatsink is a necessary element. We imagine, if the MP700 Pro delivers on its claimed speed, that it will be. We’ve certainly seen in the past how temperatures can affect M.2 drive transfer rates.
