Gen 5 4TB M.2 Drive – Crucial T705 and Sabrent Rocket 5.

Introduction and Technical Specifications

4TB PCIe Gen 5 M.2 Review

Introduction

Technology moves along at a pace. If you’re the type of user who loves performance, that’s only a good thing. However, it also is good if you like performance but have budgetary restrictions. After all, the move things advance, so the cheaper the preceding tech becomes.

That isn’t to suggest that Gen 5 M.2 drives have been superseded. Instead, the PCI Express 5.0 format has been around for long enough that the price has stabilised. No longer restricted to those of you with unlimited funds, nor only available in tiny capacities, Gen 5 M.2 drives are reasonably priced and have enormous capabilities.

Today we’re looking at a pair of 4TB NVMe drives that deliver huge speeds and huge capacities. Naturally both are available in a variety of capacities. The Crucial T705 has the most options, with 1TB, 2TB and 4TB models available. Additionally all of those can be brought with or without a heatsink. In the blue corner we have the Sabrent Rocket 5. Regular readers will know we’ve already reviewed the 2TB model of this drive, so we look forwards to finding out how the 4TB one compares.

Both drives are currently available at reduced prices too, so there has never been a better time to expand your system.

Crucial T705 4TB With Heatsink : $563.99
Sabrent Rocket 5 4TB : $729.99
