Cyberpower Ultra R77 FX Review

Conclusion

The AMD Ryzen X3D processors really come into their own in gaming scenarios, and so it’s great to see Cyberpower dedicate a whole system around the AMD hardware. The Ultra R77 FX not only boasts the excellent Ryzen 7 7800X3D eight-core CPU at its heart, but also uses a full fat X670E motherboard and the flagship Radeon graphics card – the RX 7900 XTX – to bring fantastic gaming performance at a stunningly affordable price.

We’ve reviewed a lot of systems here at OC3D and the moment you get into the world of systems that can run games smoothly at 4K the price tends to climb vertically. One thing AMD has always had up its sleeve is affordable pricing, and the Ryzen 7800X3D and RX 7900 XTX might be in the upper echelons of their respective ranges, but still have a relatively low price point. To be able to get a system boasting both these hardware choices, and not neutralising them with a B series motherboard, for Â£2249 is a bargain.

Cyberpower deserve special credit for not compromising any aspect of the build in an attempt to keep the price down. A 1000W power supply is more than ample. The case for our review sample is cavernous, with high airflow and great looks, even with front panel USB Type-C. Not a given by any means. The CPU is kept cool with a 360mm AIO. This gives you loads of thermal headroom ensuring it can run at its peak speed for long periods. Additionally a triple fan radiator will always be quieter than a single or double fan cooler running at much higher RPM. Even the choice of OS drive, the Kingston Fury Renegade is blazingly quick – over 7GB/s – and being 2TB you’re not lacking for space either. Especially handy given the tendency towards 100GB games these days.

Performance is, understandably, excellent. Noise levels are good and, as we saw on the previous page, temperatures are low. If you’re in the market for a new system, and one that can take anything you can throw at it, even at 4K, without missing a beat, it’s a fantastic choice. That it can do all those things, with all this high quality hardware, and still rock up at Â£2249 in our review specification is stunning.
