Connectivity and Lighting

One of the downsides to using an affordable case and motherboard is that are just two Type-A front panel USB 3.1 and one Type-C. If you’re like us and move between a wheel, HOTAS and Fightstick games on a regular basis you’ll have to make do with a fair bit of swapping around, or commit to them on the back. Otherwise though, as you’ve seen through these shots, the Corsair 500D is an attractive case with plenty of airflow.

Thankfully PCS have included a PCIe WiFi card so those of you who prefer the freedom of wireless networking are still catered for, as the Strix-F doesn’t have WiFi as standard. The RTX 2080 Ti has the usual connection headers, split between HDMI and DisplayPort, with a Type-C USB too if that’s more your style.

With the ASUS Strix Z490-F you’re getting plenty of connectivity options, albeit maybe not quite at the level we’ve seen on some of the Z490 motherboards I’ve reviewed as standalone ones. Thankfully PCS have included a PCIe WiFi card so those of you who prefer the freedom of wireless networking are still catered for.

Lastly the lighting. Naturally when you combine a suite of RGB fans, some RGB DDR4, RGB pump and ASUS Strix GPU there is a huge array of options and customisation potential. Instead of showing you a few colour choices we thought we’d just let the rainbow cycle happen so you can get a good feel for the subtle shades available as well as the graduation between tones, should you not wish to just go all in on one particular colour option.

We had one slight issue, which we’ll get to in the conclusion, but for now let’s move on to look at the clock speeds.
