The Ultimate Gaming Case? HAVN HS420 PC Case Review

Meet HAVN and their new HS420 PC case

Meet HAVN and their new HS420 series of PC cases

It is always refreshing to see a case from a new brand. After all, new brands need to innovate. They need to do something nobody else is doing to make it into the big leagues. Recently, we have seen HYTE emerge from nowhere and become a major player. Now, HAVN is here to innovate within the PC space.

Today, we will review the HAVN HS 420 series, specifically the HS420 VGPU model. The HS420 series promises strong GPU airflow and a huge number of customisation options. Is this case good enough to have an impact on the high-end case market, or do HAVN need to go back to the drawing board?

– Update – HAVN’s new HS420 PC cases are now available to purchase at Overclockers UK.

Who are HAVN?

HAVN is a new brand within the Pro Gamers Group (PGG), which owns popular retailers like Overclockers UK and Caseking and brands like Noblechairs, Ducky, APNX, Endgame Gear, Streamplify, and Aerocool.

The Pro Gamers Group formed HAVN a few years ago. Their team includes staff that previously worked in the design departments of Fractal Design, NZXT, Cooler Master, Sapphire, and Corning. The HS420 series has been in development for over two years in collaboration with Caseking, Overclockers UK, PC Case Gear, and 8Pack.

While HAVN is new to the case market, it has an experienced staff and the backing of teams of hardened PC enthusiasts. With the HS420 series, HAVN aims to impress. But have the done enough to differentiate themselves from their competitors?

Lots of Options

The HS 420 is a large case with plenty of room for customization. Out of the box, the side of this case can be used to mount up to three 140mm fans, four 3.5-inch HDDs, or even a 14-inch screen. Liquid cooling enthusiasts could also mount a large distribution plate in this part of the case.

Honestly, this space can be used for almost anything. The drive bay mounts act as a flat surface, allowing users to easily attach artwork or anything else to this part of the case. This is great news for modders, as it essentially gives them a blank canvas that allows them to create something custom.

Both the HS 420 and HS 420 VGPU are available in black and white.

HAVN HS420 and HS420 VGPU

The HAVN HS 420 is available in two forms. First, there is the “standard” model, and then there is the “VGPU” model. The standard model lacks a vertical GPU mount and uses a flat mounting plate for its bottom fans, while the VGPU model ships with a vertical GPU mount and a custom bottom fan mount. This custom fan mount enables an optimal airflow pattern for vertically mounted graphics cards, a nice addition to the HS 420 GPU.

HAVN HS420/420 VGPU Pricing and Specifications

Below are the full specifications for the HS 420 and HS 420 VGPU. While both cases are mostly identical. That said, their configuration options to make some notable changes to their specifications. For example, the maximum number of expansion slots changes (as the VGPU model’s vertical GPU mount covers these slots), and the VGPU model is notably heavier.

In the UK, the HAVN HS 420 will cost £199.99, and the HS 420 VGPU will cost £269.99. In the US, these prices are $199 and $269, respectively; in the EU, they are €229.90 and €289.90, respectively.
