For the 3D rendering benchmarks we’re also including the Precision Boost Overclock result. This squeezes a little more out of the CPUs automatically than you get at stock, albeit not quite at the same heights as a manual fettling. Hefty core counts let the Threadripper 2970WX beat out the significantly more expensive i9-7980XE whilst the 2920X is the meat in the i9-7900X sandwich.
