ASUS Prime X370-Pro Conclusion

We’ve been using the X370 Prime for the bulk of our AMD AM4 Ryzen CPU reviews, and like all of the non-flashy ASUS boards it has proven itself to be a very reliable and capable performer.

It’s so easy when you look at the ASUS range to have your eye drawn to either the gamer/lighting heavy Strix models, or the incredible levels of performance and all the bells and whistles of the Republic Of Gamers range. If you are less interested in the aesthetics of the motherboard, or how many oohs and ahhs you get from it in your forum signature, then we really think that their standard range of motherboards, into which category we include the Prime, are worthy of purchase.

Do not for a moment believe that just because the aesthetic and performance qualities of the Prime might be less obvious than the Strix or ROG options because ASUS don’t shout about them so loudly means that the X370 Prime isn’t a very good looking motherboard with bags of performance hidden beneath its relatively mundane title. Without the ROG branding to give you any expectations, and indeed apply a price premium, the motherboard can live or die on its own merits and we think, having used it for a few weeks now, that it most definitely is in rude health.

As with all ASUS motherboards there are plenty of features available, and AMDs move to the AM4 socket and this new X370 chipset has finally brought the AMD models on a par with their Intel rivals for features, bandwidth heavy connectivity and support for all the most modern hardware around. Furthermore it isn’t just a ‘release and forget about it’ type motherboard either, as there have been constant BIOS updates since launch, all of which have unleashed improved memory speeds, better overclocking capabilities and the all important stability that everyone demands.

It is the perfect motherboard for people who like to fly under the radar. Without a big brand name to artificially inflate the price, every penny of your purchase goes towards obtaining an extremely robust, reliable, high performing motherboard that looks good enough to adorn any build. Just because its steak without the sizzle, the steak element is still the reason you’re here.
