ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Extreme Review
Overview
Overview
The Republic of Gamers packaging is about as recognisable as boxes get, and the Z890 range is no exception. We wish they’d stop with the weird, glitched, struck through text. Apparently it is only our teeth that itch over it, as their art seems to be stuck with them now.
It wouldn’t be a Republic of Gamers box without having some extra accessories to play with. Screwdrivers, DIMM.2 add-in cards. Bottle openers. It’s all here.
Showing that the WiFi 7 solution is all about under the hood changes, the antenna included with the Maximus Extreme is identical to the ASUS ROG ones we’ve seen for a while. Or, perhaps, some changes are behind the plastic. We think it’s the former. An aerial is an aerial after all.
If you’ve ever felt that the Republic of Gamers motherboards don’t fully shout about your purchasing taste and sophistication then the Z890 range dispels that belief. The Extreme, more than most, is loud and proud. Look at the intensity of the ROG Eye logo in this picture. And it’s not even on.
The 110A power stage we spoke about in the beginning naturally requires a reasonable amount of cooling. The ASUS VRM heatsink design on the flagship Maximus certainly looks like it can handle whatever is thrown at it. All of the ASUS motherboards have proven to be cool, and the ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Extreme is no exception as you’ll soon see.
