If we take clock speeds and number of cores as a baseline, then it is amazing how a change of architecture is worth 300 extra points at stock and 200 extra points when overclocked between the i7-6950X and the i9-7900X. To put it in processor terms that’s an i3-6300 or AMD X4 860Ks worth of extra performance despite having the same amount of threads to play with.
