In a lot of areas in Dark Souls 3, particularly those without any water or puddles, has very little visual difference when moving from Low to Max settings. For many players, it will simply not be worth moving past the games medium settings, especially given the performance impact of higher settings. 

 

        

 

This final set of screenshots we can see the differences in shadow quality when moving up the graphical settings, where we can see that the player has no shadow at low and when moving above medium the shadows become more defined/detailed.
