Dying Light: The Following PC Performance Review - AMD VS Nvidia

GTX 960 and R9 380 performance at 1080p

With the GTX 960 and the R9 380 having approximately the same performance as Techland’s recommended GPUs for the The Following expansion these results were always going to be among the most interesting int his whole review.

Thankfully these results show that these GPUs, which carry very similar performance to the game’s recommended GPUs, perform perfectly at 1080p in this game, being able to achieve an average of 60FPS in our benchmark run.

We can see here that the largest performance difference is between the game’s Performance and balanced settings, with all the following settings having a very small effect on performance. While going higher than balanced has a negative performance impact in all cases, the performance impact is very minimal with these mid-range GPUs.

Both the GTX 960 and the R9 380 perform almost identically here, with both GPUs having pretty much identical performance during gameplay. Both GPUs are equally suited to playing this title, to almost a scary extent.

Our benchmark run uses a mixture of indoor and outdoor locations, with some driving gameplay in there for good measure. When indoors your framerate will be lower than outdoors on almost all cases, so please use an indoor setting if you want to hit your GPU hardest.
