Mafia III Day 1 PC Performance Review

4K Screenshot Graphical Comparison

When moving from Low to high graphical quality presets you can see that there is very little difference in overall graphical quality, with the only major differences being in shadow quality, lighting and reflection quality.

Without a side by side comparison, the graphical changes are very hard to notice, which means that a lot of PC gamers will likely play at lower settings in order to achieve a smoother gameplay experience at a higher framerate.

Texture wise Mafia III doesn’t change when you move up the graphical settings, with the same texture detail being visible at all graphical settings.

Again here we can see very little difference in the overall detail of the scene, with the most notable changes in graphical quality being due to the differing location of clouds in each screenshot, rather than a change in graphical detail.  Yes, higher levels of Ambient Occlusion and shadow quality are visible upon close inspection, but when you are playing the game you will spend very little time noticing these minor details.

In the far distance, you can see some minor differences in detail when looking at the traffic cones, but these details are so far away that they are extremely hard to notice, even at a resolution of 4K.
