Star Wars RT Demo
Right at the last moment we gained access to the Star Wars Ray Tracing demo. It’s fair to say that if the resources expended on getting Ray Tracing onto the RTX result in all games in the future looking this good, then we’re in for a wild ride. There is a school of thought that suggests Ray Tracing will have a serious performance hit. With the calculation offloaded to the RT Cores you can see that our overclocking is of no benefit. We also have to mention that our graph shows the maximum frame rate. There are minimum frame rates too, which on the 2080 are 18 at 1440 and 2 (two) at 4K, whilst the 2080Ti offers up 49 at 1440 and 29 at 4K. For the sake of clarity though we’ve left them here rather than squeezing them into our graph. Looks amazing, bit of a performance hit (and this is just a tech demo, no control inputs to handle).
