Upgrading our games testing with Sapphire Pulse RDNA 4 GPUs
Conclusion – There’s more to come
Expect to see more of these Sapphire Pulse series GPUs
AMD’s RDNA 4 graphics cards have been available for a while now. However, review samples don’t stick around for long, and it’s hard to convince a manufacturer to let us keep hardware for ongoing testing. Thankfully, Sapphire has been kind to us and has allowed us to keep its RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT Pulse graphics cards. Well… at least for now. That means that we will be able to test new game releases and see how they perform on RDNA 4.
Having these GPUs in-house will allow us to test new AMD Radeon driver features as they land. It will also let us test out AMD’s planned FSR 4 “Redstone” features as they are integrated into games. These GPUs will help us with our ongoing game/hardware coverage. We also hope to do the same with Nvidia RTX 50 series graphics cards soon.
Overall, AMD’s RX 9060 XT and RX 9070 XT are solid offerings. We’ve already reviewed several models of these GPUs, and both are great for modern gaming workloads. With RDNA 4, AMD has embraced AI and has finally reached a point where FSR can genuinely compete with DLSS when it comes to image quality. RDNA 4 also offers a strong value proposition right now, especially at their MSRP pricing. This is the best GPU generation that AMD has produced in a while, though it remains to be seen if AMD can keep up this momentum. After all, Nvidia remains dominant in the high-end of the GPU market.
If anything, this article is a taste of things to come. You can expect us to test more new PC games as they are released, and you can expect us to test these graphics cards whenever that happens. If there is anything specific you would like us to test, contact us on the OC3D Forums or social media to let us know what you would like to see. As mentioned before, we hope to use these GPUs to look into things like Radeon Image Sharpening 2 (RIS 2) and write a guide for using FSR 4 with Optiscaler soon. If there’s anything else you’d like to see, please ask. We can’t guarantee that we’ll test it, but we will consider it.
You can join the discussion on the addition of Sapphire’s RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT to our games test suite on the OC3D Forums.
