Corsair K100 Optical Mechanical Keyboard Review

We often speak about packaging that has a clear product shot on it, and as keyboards are one of the few items you’ll find stocked in your local hardware emporium it’s even more important than usual. Corsair have clearly got on board with this as the K100 has a life size, top down image on the front.
Although the K100 itself is built like a tank, the packaging is very stiff cardboard too, both the outer box and inner ensure that your new purcahse will arrive as fresh as it was when it left the factory. Corsair have also included a moulded cover, which you can use as a dust shield if you’re one of those people who like to keep their keyboard free from any particles.
As well as the keyboard the K100 comes equipped with some alternate FPS/MOBA keys for those of you who like a little more grip and curvature on your keys, like Beyonce in a wetsuit.
Wrist rests are vital to save not only your wrists but forearms and fingers over the many years you’ll be typing and gaming. The one supplied with the K100 is plush and gorgeous. Plenty of comfort, a nice angle, and high quality too as befits a keyboard at this end of the price spectrum.
Althogh we’re not lit up yet you can see how much of the underside of the keys is cut away to let plenty of light out. The eagle-eyed amongst you will also spot some side lighting available, which we’ll show off on the next page.
You can see that the combination of the feet height – two heights are available – as well as the plushness of the wrist rest promise a relaxing typing experience. For those people who, like myself, type seemingly every waking moment bringing you reviews of everything from mice to RTX 3 series graphics cards, it’s a geniune boon.
The keys have a very nice font, different to the one that often appears on Corsair keyboards. It is very subtle when the lighting is off, yet heavy enough to allow plenty of light through when in use, as you’ll see in a moment. We like the glittery effect of the keycaps too.
The 6 foot long cable has connections for the keyboard itself as well as the pass-through port. The braiding feels like a new version when compared to those we’re used to. It’s very soft and flexible.
