Project Cars 2 PC Performance Review

4K Screenshot Graphical Comparison

When playing Project Cars 2 at lowest settings a few things will become very apparent, the draw distances for vehicle detail and the elimination of most shadows. These settings will yield users much higher framerates but a less enjoyable visual experience.

Moving from low to medium and then High we can see noticeable improvements in texture detail, which is very noticeable for the terrain, vehicles and become even more noticeable when inside the game’s cockpit view.

Even when looking at the player’s Ford Escort we can see some notable differences in texture quality, with the black stripes on the vehicle having indistinct edges.

At higher setting, we can also see some grass at the edge of the track and that the player’s vehicle does not gain any extra geometry, though we can see that vehicle detail does draw at higher distances, with the game’s ultra-settings eliminating noticeable pop-in.

One other thing that is worth looking at is the track details and the graphical detail of the rearview mirror, with higher settings drawing more detail at a distance and a much more aesthetically pleasing rear viewpoint.

At our Ultra game settings, we can also see a noticeable increase in rain particle numbers and size, though thankfully this effect does not decrease visibility in this weather type.
