Star Wars: Squadrons PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

1080p Performance

When playing Star Wars; Squadrons at 1080p, it quickly becomes clear why 144Hz, 240Hz and 360Hz PC displays exist. Star Wars Squadrons runs incredibly well on PC, and can often exceed 300 FPS at Ultra settings on our RTX 2080 Ti graphics card.

We will note here that our GPU test scene is not the same as our CPU test scene, as each test sequence represents the toughest location in the game that we could find that’s easily repeatable and gives us performance date with little run-to-run variance. Our GPU test scene is much less CPU-limited than our CPU test scene, which is why our 1st percentile and 5th percentile framerates are so much higher.

Even our ageing RX 580 and GTX 1060 graphics cards can deliver us average framerates of over 100 FPS in Star Wars Squadrons, highlighting how well optimised Star Wars Squadrons is on PC.

For the most part, Star Wars Squadrons appears to run better on Radeon hardware than their Nvidia counterparts, with AMD’s Vega and RDNA products showcasing compelling performance levels.
