The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered PC Performance Review and Optimisation Guide

[Update – August 2nd 2025] Sapphire has sent their Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT Pulse graphics cards for games testing. This has allowed us to add AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs to our recent games performance analysis articles. Data for these GPUs is now included below. Note that this data is from the game’s newest update, update 1.2.

As we have mentioned several times in this article, Ultra settings simply aren’t worth it in this game. Even at high settings, this Remaster can be hard on hardware.

Nvidia’s 6GB RTX 2060 simply does not have enough VRAM to run this game effectively. Similarly, AMD’s 8GB RX 6600 and RX 6600 XT also struggle. That said, Nvidia’s 8GB GPUs run into fewer issues in our benchmark runs. However, we recommend Medium settings for these GPUs, as that will minimise stuttering in this game.

Even at high settings, this game can be challenging to run at native 1080p. That said, our Cheydinhal test area is one of the more demanding sections of this game. If you can get above 60 FPS here, you can stay well above 60 FPS almost anywhere.

Upscaling makes 60+ FPS performance much more achievable in this game. It allows more GPUs to run this game at higher framerates without issues.
