Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus PC Performance Review

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus PC Performance Review

VRAM Usage

With Wolfenstein II it is clear why Machine Games has decided to use 4GB as the minimum VRAM requirement for this title, with the game using more than 2GB of VRAM at 1080p Low settings. Yes, we have shown that 2GB GPUs can offer passable performance in this game, but it is clear that 4GB or more is what is needed to get the best visual/gameplay experience.

Even at 1080p the game’s Mien Leben! setting caused our 4GB R9 Fury X to run at a comparative crawl, showcasing exactly how much of a VRAM hog this game is. If more games are released like this the 2GB era is over and the age of 4GB VRAM minimums have begun.
